Seeing Trieste from the sea changes everything: the city opens up like an amphitheater, and the coastline offers views you simply don’t get from land. There are plenty of options, from private or group excursions to nature outings connected to the Miramare Marine Protected Area, established in 1986 and managed by WWF Italia, a place of great biodiversity just a stone’s throw from the Castle.

- “Nature” outing in the Miramare area: in some experiences there are guides/naturalists and a focus on the marine and coastal environment.
- Seasonal sea transport: at certain times of year there are sea connections between Trieste and towns in the Gulf (also great just for enjoying the ride).
